PCB Designer

About the Position

In this role, based in Livingston, you will be responsible for designing the dense PCB assembly within high speed optoelectronic transceivers. This will consist of design, development and prototyping leading edge products, and ultimately seeing them through to successful mass manufacture as part of the wider team. In addition, you will be responsible for custom in-house PCBs to support manufacture and test requirements.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:
•  Design high speed, multilayer PCBs for optical transceivers
• Offer design for manufacture advice at all stages of development
• Carry out schematic capture alongside engineers
• Perform post processing and Gerber generation
• Maintain component library

•  Working with the design and manufacturing teams to develop & implement qualification programmes for new products and improve existing products
• Taking ownership of accelerated life tests; to include test setup/design, scheduling, data analysis and final report

In this role, based in Livingston, you will be responsible for delivering effective optomechanical packaging solutions to support the volume manufacture of leading edge optical and opto-electronic products.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:
•  Mechanical design of high speed (200G, 400G, Tb) optoelectronic modules; design of planar lightwave products
• Work closely with the wider team over multiple sites to deliver products from prototyping to volume manufacturing
• Simulation: thermal, stress, etc.
• Component and assembly tolerancing; mechanical debug
• Sourcing and verification of prototype and high volume components and assemblies
• Design of fixtures / tooling / rigs in support of module development and manufacture
• Product data maintenance, including models and component / assembly drawing

Essential requirements:

With major investment in our site and products we are now looking to hire Shift Leaders for our expanding production team. You will be required to support the Supervisors and Production Manager by taking day to day responsibility in leading, coordinating and motivating a team of operators and technicians. Working continental shifts the Shift Leader will ensure that the group is working efficiently and in unity.

 

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
•  Guide, direct, co-ordinate and motivate Operators and Technicians on shift to achieve production targets.
• Complete daily/weekly production reports and supply to management in absence of Shift Manager.
• Ensure production output sheet is up to date in absence of Shift Manager.
• Identify training requirements, highlighting any issues to Shift Manager.
• Organise shift set up for production operators, ensure targets and equipment set up is clear and concise.

Key Responsibilities:
•  First point of contact for process or equipment issues to maintain production test output
• Ensure that the test area is effective by looking after test equipment such as DC, RF, overload, etc.
• Monitor and improve equipment and process performance to prevent problems, proactively where possible; provide suggestions for improvements
• Investigate product issues, with quick feedback to Engineering/Supervisors
• Assist with engineering tests and experiments and provide reports

In this role, based in Livingston, you will be responsible for delivering an effective test function to support the volume manufacture of leading edge optical and opto-electronic products.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:
•  Ensure effective test capability for optoelectronic transceivers, planar lightwave circuits (PLCs), and corresponding sub-assemblies (e.g. lasers on carrier).
• Ensure high uptime, robustness and efficiency of test in a 24/7 production environment; be the go-to engineer for the operations team.
• Provide and maintain detailed documentation of test systems, including Work Instructions, Maintenance Procedures, OCAPs, BOMs, etc.
• Ensure the test function operates to internal standards and take responsibility for passing internal and external quality audits. Showcase the test area to customers, investors, and other stakeholders.
• Understand test from the micro level to the macro level, with the ability to work at all levels.
• Continual improvement: seek to constantly improve the overall test capability, incrementally or more radically as appropriate.
• Work closely with the R&D team to develop new and improved test solutions; take responsibility for introducing improvements to the manufacturing area and ensuring fitness for purpose.
• Work closely with production to ensure that the manufacturing needs are satisfied. Train engineers, technicians and trainers to enable effective test.
• Take responsibility for product yield: ongoing monitoring, product debug, trials on new products and specifications, etc.
